Technology is all around us. It’s not going anywhere. Here are a couple points about technology and those who assist you with it.
- It doesn’t always make sense
- It’s always changing
- It takes effort to keep running efficiently
- It can, at any moment, act different without any warning
- It can even fail at any moment without warning
- Always have up to date backups
- Sometimes a fix isn’t obvious
- Sometimes an immediate fix isn’t even possible
- Keeping up with the times is a good idea
- Be Proactive, don’t wait until problems happen.
- SysAdmins are people too, not wizards, we don’t know everything about everything.
- Therefore we may not have an answer as to why xyz happened, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
- There is more than one way to achieve your goal
- Not all the ways are efficient.
- Your comfort zone isn’t always the best route to handle your day to day activities
- It’s a good idea to use certain programs over others. See this article.
- Using email in this day and age is a must. It’s also a must to use it efficiently.
- By efficient I mean daily checks, keeping it spam free (contact me to get your inbox cleaned), and average response times of less than a few hours.
